In just over a week The Artistry of Amanda Conner exhibit will open at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum (GEM). Featuring 50 original pieces of art and 15 statues, the exhibit will cover two decades of Conner’s career.

In conjunction with the exhibit, GEM has created a catalog filled with images of Conner’s artwork, as a companion piece. With an introduction by GEM President Melissa Bowersox, the catalog provides depictions of comic book covers, concept art, sculptures, and interior comic pages. It also has side by side comparisons of original art to finished covers.

The Artistry of Amanda Conner is the latest in a series for strong exhibits we’ve staged recently at GEM and we think that any of her fans that make the journey to see it will be very pleased. It’s an excellent selection of her work and really represents the enthusiastic spirit we all love in her art,” Bowersox said.

The catalog shows a variety of characters, including Harley Quinn, Power Girl, Vampirella, Painkiller Jane, Silk Spectre, Star Wars, and a beautiful spread from the Green Arrow and Black Canary Wedding Special.

The catalog also provides biographical details on Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti (Conner’s husband and frequent collaborator), colorist Paul Mounts, and their company, PaperFilms (a collaboration between the trio and Justin Gray, Frank Tieri, and Patrick Wedge).

Last week Scoop was given a preview of the exhibit by GEM’s Collections and Exhibits Manager Michael Solof. After showing some of the art, Solof talked about how the catalog came together and how helpful DC’s representative was in the process.

“Mandy Noack-Barr was very helpful in getting DC’s permission to use images for advertising and publicity,” Solof said.

The catalog for The Artistry of Amanda Conner is exclusively available at the museum. It carries a $10 cover price.
