A CBCS 9.0 copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 sold for $237,000 at ComicConnect on Monday, March 28, 2016 as part of their 28th Event Auction. Both the grading service and the auction house quickly identified the price as a record in this grade for Spider-Man’s origin issue and first appearance. While certainly Spider-Man’s appearance in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Captain America: Civil War doesn’t hurt, the webslinger has not needed much in the way of a multimedia push the last few years in order to record strong results.

The issue, of course, also featured the first appearances of Aunt May, Uncle Ben, Flash Thompson, and Liz Allan.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the sale on the 9.0! ComicConnect bidders are the best in the world and the reputation Steve Borock and the team at CBCS has built over the last two years has given them the confidence to bid even more aggressively on CBCS comics in our Event Auctions,” ComicConnect COO, Vincent Zurzolo said.
