The creative teams as well as the mutant rosters for the upcoming X-Men books, X-Men: Gold and X-Men: Blue, have been revealed. The two team books echo the team names used in the 1990s, and will both launch in April 2017.

X-Men: Gold will be written by Marc Guggenheim, with Ardian Syaf on art duties. The leader of this team is Kitty Pryde, with a squad consisting of Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Logan (of the “Old Man” variety) and Rachel Grey. Guggenheim is currently a co-showrunner on both Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on the CW, while Syaf comes to the series after working with DC on books such as Batgirl and Green Lantern Corps.

X-Men: Blue will be written by Cullen Bunn with art by Jorge Molina. This team consists of the five original X-Men, who have been displaced in time: Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, and Angel, led by Jean Grey. In a quick twist, Magneto is their mentor instead of Professor X. Bunn previously worked on a Magneto solo series and is currently writing Uncanny X-Men; Molina has also previously worked within the X-Men line as well as on A-Force.
