An example of Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 9.0, with the 1962 first appearance of Spider-Man, has sold in an auction at ComicLink for $415,000. This price achieves a new record price for the landmark issue in the offered condition.

“Just over a decade ago, an Amazing Fantasy #15 in CGC 9.0 sold for $60,000. This shows the enormous potential investment return of vintage comic books featuring important appearances of beloved characters,” ComicLink founder and President Josh Nathanson said.

Nathanson went on to share more details about the significance of the book’s grade. “CGC has certified only 9 examples at this coveted 9.0 designation. This is out of more than 2,800 submissions to CGC for this issue. Moreover, it is a very rare occasion when one hits the open market like this, especially within a no reserve auction and a start price of $1,” he said.

ComicLink is currently accepting consignments for upcoming auctions including the Spring Featured Auction which will begin on May 3, the March Focused Auction which will begin on March 15, the April Focused Auction which will begin on April 12 and includes a session for vintage certified coins. Interested sellers may contact ComicLink by emailing buysell@comiclink.com or by calling (617) 517-0062 (option 1) to speak with Josh Nathanson, Douglas Gillock, Jason Crosby, Jon Signorelli or Ross Kearney.
