A copy of the first edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide sold for an incredible $9,000 at Heritage Auctions on Thursday, November 15, 2018.

Then titled The Comic Book Price Guide, the first edition of the book was graded by CGC at 9.2. According to Heritage’s description, CGC has only certified four other copies to date and the next highest grade is an 8.0.

Written by Robert M. Overstreet, the first Guide was published in 1970 and initial sold for $5. Building on that first volume, the Guide went on to become the Bible for comic book collectors, providing in-depth pricing details on thousands of comic books.
