Voice actor Michael Lindsay, who provided voice work to numerous anime series and video games over the course of his career, passed away on August 31, 2019. He was 56 years old.

Lindsay was born in Washington, D.C. and eventually relocated to New York City to pursue his acting career. He became involved in anime dubbing as the medium began to explode in the U.S., lending his vocal talents to classics such as the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Akira.

He is best-known for having voiced major characters in some long-running television anime series, such as Joe Kido in Digimon, Kisuke Urahara in Bleach, and Kankuro in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. He also contributed to shows such as Code Geass, Marmalade Boy, Zatch Bell and to video games like Xenosaga, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Dynasty Warriors 4 and many others over the course of his career.

Fellow Digimon voice actor Joshua Seth shared his condolences online, saying, “Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Lindsay, the voice of Joe and Greymon in Digimon. He was always so funny and kind. Strange to think he’s gone. Life is so fragile and precious. Enjoy it while you can.”
