Comcast’s NBCUniversal division has acquired DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion, according to a statement released on April 28, 2016. The company said that the deal will take effect by the end of the year.

DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg will be giving up his position but will remain involved in two related businesses: Awesomeness TV and NOVA; he will now be the chairman of DreamWorks New Media.

DreamWorks Animation is known for series such as Shrek, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda.
