Netflix and Marvel have officially announced that a miniseries focusing on The Punisher is in development, starring Jon Bernthal as he reprises his role from season two of Daredevil. The news was released in a statement on Marvel’s website.

“We want to thank the fans who are clamoring for more of Jon’s stunning and powerful performance as Frank Castle from Marvel’s Daredevil,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Now combined with Showrunner Steve Lightfoot’s compelling writing, we’re thrilled to bring Marvel’s The Punisher to Netflix.”

The Punisher is the sixth series ordered so far as part of the ongoing collaboration between Marvel and Netflix. The shows already out on the streaming service are Jessica Jones and the first two seasons of Daredevil; upcoming shows include Luke Cage, due out in September, with Iron Fist and The Defenders due later on. There is not yet a release window for The Punisher.
