It’s official, Dwayne Johnson has signed on for Sony Pictures’ Doc Savage. Johnson made the announcement on Monday via Instagram. He provided background information on Doc Savage, including his status as a “weirdo.” Johnson ended the post by saying, “Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one of a kind character.”

Doc Savage will be directed by Shane Black (The Nice Guys) with script co-written by Black, Anthony Bagarozzi, and Charles Mondry. While promoting The Nice Guys, Black made it clear that he wanted Johnson to star in the movie.

Johnson will produce the movie through his Seven Bucks Productions banner along with Hiram Garcia. Other producers are Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, and Michael Uslan.
