At Comic-Con Dark Horse held a panel for their Joss Whedon based comic book line. Panelists Christos Gage (writer Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10), Chris Roberson (writer Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse), and Kel McDonald (writer Buffy the High School Years) gave some info about the titles they are working on and answered audience questions.

The new Firefly series, Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse, will be set a year and a half after the last miniseries, Leaves on the Wind. While all characters have story arcs, Roberson mentioned that River will be central to the story. He shared that clusters have formed within the group and dynamics have changed. There is a hilarious subplot with Jayne, secrets come out from a back story, and new and old antagonists will appear. It will be on sale October 26, 2016.

McDonald said that her Buffy high school miniseries will be called “Glutton for Punishment,” out on October 19, 2016. She shared that it will follow in the footsteps of the TV show telling a high school-centric story with a supernatural conflict.

Gage talked a bit about the end of Buffy Season 10 series. He said that for Season 11 the series will cut the run to just 12 issues, significantly smaller than previous seasons, which had 25 to 40 issues. With the smaller season run, it will be on a bigger scale with one long story, rather than shorter story arcs. He also said that a disaster will happen right off the bat, so be ready Buffy fans. It could be a bumpy ride.
