Overstreet collectors, writers, and contributors came together to celebrate 46 years of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide at Comic-Con. Moderated by Gemstone Publishing Vice-President of Publishing J.C. Vaughn, panelists included Mark Huesman (Gemstone Creative Director), and Guide contributors Maggie Thompson (former Comics Buyer’s Guide editor), Gary M. Carter (former Guide editor, CBM founder), Ed Catto (Bonfire Agency), Steve Borock (CBCS), and Matt Nelson (CCS).

The panel opened with a video of dealers talking about the significance of the Guide. Then panelists shared their experiences discovering the Guide, all of which included descriptions of the covers, and when it became a regular tool they used to buy comics. They talked about the significance of market reports, how the Guide provides a sense of community, and how helpful it was in locating comic shops before the internet.

One panelist pointed out that all dealers had the book by 1975, that the community helped determine the prices for the secondary market, and how it guides collecting habits, and legitimized the hobby by showing what comics are worth.
