Disney is partnering with five companies to promote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first standalone Star Wars movie in the franchise. On Monday, Lucasfilm announced that they have inked promotional deals with Duracell, General Mills, Gillette, Nissan, and Verizon.
They have developed campaigns and programs to complement the tone of marketing for Rogue One. They’ve “each designed a stellar campaign capturing the spirit and camaraderie of Rogue One,” Lucasfilm General Manager Lynwen Brennan said.
The companies assisted in promoting last year’s The Force Awakens. Duracell showed batteries producing the glow in lightsabers, General Mills created collectible cereal boxes, Gillette’s razor handles were shaped like weapons from the movie, Nissan put Stormtroopers in their ads promoting the Juke model, and Verizon offered a them version of the Google Cardboard virtual reality headset.
