The annual Baltimore Book Festival is happening this weekend. Literature sellers, readers, and fans will fill Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for the event on September 23-25, 2016.

Geppi’s Entertainment Museum (GEM) will have a strong presence at the event with their own pavilion.

Art Way Alliance will be at the GEM pavilion throughout all three days of the festival giving art classes.

On Saturday a parade featuring adoptable dogs dressed as superheroes will take place. It will begin at 11 AM at Rusty Scupper.

There will also be a cupcake celebration of GEM’s 10th anniversary.

Guest speakers at GEM’s pavilion are Glen Weldon and Charles Hildebrandt.

Weldon will present The Caped Crusade: Batman and the Rise of Nerd Culture. Weldon, a book critic for NPR and author of Superman: The Unauthorized Biography will discuss Batman’s 78 years, his impact on cultural history, how Batman has influenced us today, and why his legacy is still strong.

Hildebrandt, son of Tim Hildebrandt, is currently curating an exhibit of his father’s work at GEM. He is also Production Council for the upcoming Museum of Science Fiction in Washington, DC. He’ll talk about his upbringing, plans for next year’s opening, and touch on science fiction and fantasy.

Weldon will speak at the pavilion on Saturday from 1 PM to 2 PM and Hildebrandt will speak on Sunday from 1 PM to 2 PM.
