Late last week, DC Entertainment announced that Detective Comics artist Alvaro Martinez has signed on to produce content only for DC and Vertigo.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Alvaro choose DC as his creative home,” DC Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras said. “He’s incredibly talented and his style is an enhancement to the great stories being told in Detective Comics.”
Martinez has worked on several of DC’s Batman titles and with writer James Tynion IV. He provided art for the Batman Eternal weekly series in 2014 and the Batman and Robin Eternal weekly series in 2015. He will be the featured artist on Part One of “The Victim Syndicate” story arc, beginning in Detective Comics #943. It went on sale this week.
“I’ve been a DC fan since childhood, so becoming a part of the DC family is one of the best moments in my professional career,” Martinez said. “Also, I’m blessed to be working on Detective Comics, a series with an incredible legacy in the comic book industry. I’m determined to do my best job with every issue and I hope the fans will love it as much as I love working on the book!”
