Sony held their PlayStation Experience keynote on December 3, 2016, making a number of significant game announcements in the process. Major sequels to popular franchises as well as remastered favorites from the earliest days of the PS1 were both highlighted at the event.

Naughty Dog announced that they will be bringing another chapter into their popular Uncharted franchise with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. While the other main entries in the series have focused on Nathan Drake, The Lost Legacy will instead star Chloe Frazier, who was first introduced in Uncharted 2, who will team up with Nadine Ross, a mercenary from Uncharted 4.

The Last of Us Part 2 was also announced, a follow-up to the award-winning post-apocalyptic adventure from 2013. Though Naughty Dog said the development process was still in the earliest stages, the company was able to confirm that The Last of Us Part 2 will once again feature Joel and Ellie, with Ellie taking on the lead role.

Rumors surrounding a fourth Marvel vs. Capcom were confirmed, with Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite announced at the keynote. The debut trailer showed off Ryu and Mega Man from the Capcom side of things facing off against Captain Marvel and Iron Man from Marvel; this also marks the first time that Carol Danvers will be appearing in a MvC game. The Infinite part of the title does come from the Infinity Stones. The game will release in 2017. On top of that, after being missing from the online marketplace for a long time, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is back on PlayStation 4.

Knack 2 was also announced. The original Knack was a launch title for the PS4, and it looks as though the sequel will be introducing cooperative multiplayer to the game. No release date was announced.

On the remaster front, the previously-announced HD remake of Crash Bandicoot got a more in-depth look than it had at E3. It will be called Crash Bandicoot: N’Sane Trilogy and contain Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The trailed showed off the remastered levels, as well as a redone soundtrack. The marsupial is expected to make his triumphant return to the PlayStation platform sometime in 2017.

PaRappa the Rapper will also be getting the HD remake treatment in celebration of the game’s 20th anniversary. A demo is currently available to download for free. The remake will feature native 4K support on PS4 Pro, and new features that enable the player to “Feel the Beat” or “See the Beat” better have also been added; the HD PaRappa will release in 2017. LocoRoco and Patapon, two popular PSP titles, are also getting the same treatment.

Other titles that were shown off include Let It Die, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Windjammers, Resident Evil 7, Yakuza 6, Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, Ys Origins, and MLB The Show 17. Further details on these and other games can be found online at the PlayStation Blog.
