Character actress Alice Drummond passed away last week. Actress June Gable, her friend and executor, confirmed Drummond’s passing. She was 88 years old.

The petite actress played the frightened librarian in Ghostbusters, the catatonic patient in Awakening, and a sick nun in Doubt.

Drummond was born on May 21, 1928 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She graduated from Pembroke College, the women’s college of Brown University, in 1950. She started acting professionally after she and her husband, Paul Drummond, moved to Manhattan. Drummond became a Broadway regular in the 1960s to ’70s.

She played the nurse in Dark Shadows in 1967. She was in Hide in Plain Sight, Eyewitness, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Funny Farm, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, and In & Out. She did several episodes of Lenny and Frannie’s Turn. Her final appearance was in 2011 in the short Open House.
