Each year, Free Comic Book Dagives away over 6 million comics from 50 available titles at participating local comic shops. For 2017, in addition to the 50 available titles, Diamond Comic Distributors will present for the first time additional educational support material.

We’re proud to say that The Overstreet Guide To Collecting, a new, full color, comic book size publication, will be part of this initial offering. It can be found listed immediately following the Free Comic Book Day listings in the January 2017 edition of PREVIEWS.

"The Overstreet Guide To Collecting is a fun, visual introduction to collecting for newcomers, perfect for Free Comic Book Day audiences. It doesn't stop there, though. It's also going to offer a chance for experienced collectors, who also show up for Free Comic Book Day, to think differently about how they collect. It's comic book-centric, but also touches on movie posters, video games, concert posters, and even cosplay, all in a highly engaging comic book/text hybrid," said J.C. Vaughn, Gemstone’s Vice-President of Publishing, who is also the issue’s lead writer.

"Many of our friends in the industry have loaned us their characters for the cause of promoting comics. From Valiant to Archie and from Matt Wagner to Billy Tucci, it's a really diverse package. It's all wrapped in a great Billy Tucci cover that celebrates Free Comic Book Day," he said.

The issue is illustrated by Brendon & Brian Fraim (Vampire, PA), colored by House Imagi, and lettered by Marshall Dillon. The cover is by Shi creator Billy Tucci, and other creators such as Mark Wheatley (Breathtaker) and Gene Gonzales also contributed.

Best known as the home of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, Gemstone Publishing is at the forefront of preserving and promoting the history of the comics medium.
