We finally have a name and get to see the first look at Sigourney Weaver in Marvel’s The Defenders. Weaver will play Alexandra, a villain who will go up against Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

Entertainment Weekly got the exclusive first look at her as Alexandra. The image is pretty basic: Weaver in what appears to be a swanky locale atop the New York skyline, coiffed and looking up confidently at someone or something.

The image may not reveal much, but the casting of Weaver, who showrunner Marco Ramirez described as an “utter badass,” will likely be formidable.

“Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.”

For now, Marvel is keeping details about the character close to the vest. But Ramirez did share, “We knew it would take something massive to pull these four characters from their individual worlds to work together, but also small enough that it felt like it existed in our world.”

The Defenders will star Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones as the abovementioned heroes. The show will be on Netflix in the summer of 2017.
