On Monday, January 16, 2017, Gotham kicked off with the highly anticipated return of Cameron Monaghan's Jerome Valeska. Once the proto-Joker is back to terrorizing the streets of Gotham, he might even receive a partner-in-crime. From the teases given thus far, it's likely Gotham's version of Harley Quinn will be debuting in the current season.

During an interview with TV Guide, executive producer John Stephens discussed the possibility of a proto-Harley. “We might see [her] in episode 22,” said Stephens, referring to the tail-end of season three as Harley's potential debut. Stephens comments indicated that the introduction would be a “launching point” for season four. While little else is known about her arrival, Stephens promises, “It’s crazy.”

Stephens previously teased the addition of Harley, as well as Killer Kroc, into Gotham back in August. Although hinting that Croc would appear in season three (which has yet to happen), he also said, “the Harley Quinn of it all is a bit more of a sticky wicket but it’s one we’ve already thought about for the character. We don’t want to give too much away but it will definitely be someone connected to the Joker cult world that we have set up. But it’s down the road, later in season three right now.”

Fans will just have to wait for episode 22 to see whether the rumors are true.

Gotham - which stars Ben McKenzie, David Mazouz, Cameron Bicondova, Donal Louge, Robin Lord Taylor, Morena Baccarin, and Jada Pinkett Smith - airs Mondays at 8 PM on FOX.
