CBCS has announced the beginning of their new in-house pressing service, CBCS Pressing. The goal for the streamlined service will be to provide first-rate pressing to their customers and the fastest turnaround they can provide.
Their goal is to eventually integrate pressing requests into the submission process in their online form. For now, customers who need books pressed can submit them directly to CBCS with a notation on the invoice that they want the books pressed. CBCS will press the books and send customers an invoice for the service.
Steve Ricketts has been named the president and head presser for CBCS Pressing. He started working for World Color Press, a comic and magazine printer, in the late 1980s where he learned as much as he could about comic book production. For the next 25 years his experience and expertise in comic printing grew until he reached the position of operations manager.
In 2007 he became interested in comic pressing as a non-invasive means of improving the comics appearances. Ricketts began learning more about paper conservation and developing process and procedures to press comic books safely and correctly. Since then he worked to perfect his craft, pressing thousands of comics.
Ricketts is one of the original CBCS team members and graders. As general manager he has worked on product development and marketing at CBCS, including helping to engineer their products, services, and procedures.
