Deadpool creator, Rob Liefeld, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Extreme Studios, the brand he launched during Image Comics foundation. On March 30, 2017, Liefeld is participating in a limited signing at Big Red Comics, located on 162-B Glassel Street in Orange, California.
The event will bring Liefeld and 13 of the original Extreme Studio artists together to sign limited edition programs, as well as other Extreme Studios titles.
Back in 1992, Liefeld left Marvel Comics along with several other artists to form Image Comics. Thereafter, each of the co-founders created their own studio within the Image brand. After creating Extreme Studios, Liefeld released Youngblood #1 as the first comic under his Image brand.
The studio quickly became a major player in the comics industry, with a 5.78 market. The books regularly outsold DC Comics and Marvel icons like Batman and Spider-Man, as well as other Image studios like Jim Lee’s Wildstorm and Todd McFarlane’s TMP.
Extreme Studios family of comics included Youngblood, Brigade, Bloodstrike, Prophet, and Avengelyne. The creators of such series found further success working in comics, television, and video games over the past two decades. Some of their past credits include work for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, Batman: The Animated Series, Ben 10, Robot Chicken, Con Man, and Max Steele.
“I am beyond thrilled to be working together with these amazing artists as well as reuniting with them back together after 25 years. I was fortunate to see the unique potential in each of these artists when they were just starting out and give many of them their very first, or their biggest break in the comics industry. Watching them build their impressive résumés over the years and help shape the entertainment industry for the past two decades has been one of the highlights of my 30-year career,” Liefeld said.
Among the artists scheduled to appear are Jeff Matsuda (New Men, Kaboom), Dan Fraga (Brigade, Bloodstrike), Andy Park (Avengelyne), Shannon Denton (Youngblood, Brigade), Chap Yaep (Youngblood, Warchild), Todd Nauck (New Men, X-Men, Deadpool), Marat Mychaels (Brigade, Deadpool Corps.), Norm Rapmund (Brigade, Teen Titans, The Flash), Art Thibert (Brigade, Superman, Batman), Danny Miki (Youngblood, Bloodstrike, Batman), Matt Hawkins (Avengelyne, Think Tank, Postal), Dan Panosian (Prophet, X-Men, Logan), and Karl Altstaetter (Bloodstrike).
The limited signing will take place from 5 PM to 8 PM. VIP packages and exclusive commemorative comics for the signing can be purchased at Rob Liefeld's website and at the store on the day of signing.
