Law & Order star Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has been cast in the Netflix series the Punisher.

It’s currently unknown which character Mastrantonio will be playing, although in the photographs of her on set, she is meeting with Paul Schulze’s character – Rawlins, a CIA operative. Based on Jon Bernthal’s story so far and what we know of Schulze’s role, Mastrantonio could be playing a villain in the series. It’s not likely she’d be meeting a CIA agent in a public setting just to chat.

Aside from the few set photographs, no other production details have been shared. Given how late in the shooting this scene is taking place, this could be toward the end of the series.

Punisher is likely to be taking a few cues from the Marvel Knights and MAX interpretations of the character – as Garth Ennis has written a majority of stories featuring the character. Could we be seeing our first look at Ma Gnucci? It remains to be seen. More information, including a release date, should be announced once Punisher wraps on production.

In addition to Law & Order, Mastrantonio is known for her role as Captain Zoe Callas alongside Jeff Goldblum in Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Her credits also include Gina Montana in Scarface, Lindsey Brigman in the Abyss, and Maid Marian alongside Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Punisher stars Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Paige), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Paul Schulze (Rawlins), Jamie Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Micro).
