Film producer J.C. Spink, known for getting many comedies of the 2000s off the ground, died last week on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He passed at his home in West Hollywood, according to his brother Brian Spink. He was 45 years old.

Originally from Philadelphia, Spink and Chris Bender founded the Benderspink management production team. They were both graduates of Bucknell University and assistants at Zide-Perry Productions before starting their own group.

Within their first year they sold over 20 scripts, helped set up American Pie, and signed a first-look production deal with New Line Cinema. They were crucial in the sale of scripts like Cats & Dogs, The Ring, Monster-in-Law, We’re the Millers, the Hangover trilogy, and Ride Along.

Spink earned a reputation as a fast talking businessman who lived large. In fact, his reputation led to cameos on camera, including on the sitcom, The Goldbergs.
