Fox has announced more formal plans for Dark Phoenix, which will be the next installment in the main X-Men movie franchise. Simon Kinberg will direct, and the studio announced a release date of November 2, 2018, according to Deadline.

Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy will all reprise their roles as Mystique, Magneto, and Professor X, respectively; also returning are Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Kinberg has previously served the X-Men film series as a writer on X-Men: The Last Stand and as a writer and producer on X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. He also produced the Deadpool spinoff.
