Vincent Zurzolo, COO of ComicConnect, was recently interviewed by Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo about the current state of the comic book industry. Zurzolo began the interview by reporting that ComicConnect’s recent Jon Berk Original Art and Comic Book Auction exceeded all expectations and surpassed pre-auction estimates by over $2 million.

Zurzolo displayed several of the auction’s most valuable books including a copy of Action Comics #1 CGC 5.5 C which sold for $393,000, Action Comics #7 CGC 5.5 Court Case Copy which went for $188,000, and a copy of Detective Comics #27 CGC 6.5 R which hammered at $313,000.

Bartiromo, who was visibly impressed by the high prices paid for the four-color treasures, questioned Zurzolo about the nostalgic motivations behind the comic market, the investment opportunities surrounding the hobby, and even her husband’s interest in adult-themed comics.

Zurzolo went on to discuss the success of the modern day comic book phenomenon, The Walking Dead, and previewed ComicConnect’s upcoming Walking Dead Auction, which would consist of highest graded copies and original art, which is due to coincide with 2017’s New York Comic Con.
