The Star Wars Land project that will be opening at both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019 has a new name – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The immersive themed area will feature two new rides as well as new dining options.

One of the rides will have guests piloting the Millennium Falcon, and the ride may have some consequences for guests depending on how well they perform on their mission; performing well could get them extra credits, but returning the ship in banged-up condition may put them in the sights of some bounty hunters.

A cantina area will also be present in Galaxy’s Edge, and it was announced that Rex, the former pilot of the Star Tours attraction, will be the bar’s resident DJ.

Besides the land itself, Disney discussed a new “360 vacation concept” for a Star Wars-themed resort hotel.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob Chapek, Chairmen of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in 2019 in both the California and Florida parks; the planned resort experience does not yet have an opening date.
