Comic-Con International is in full swing with thousands of visitors in town for the four-day extravaganza on July 20-23, 2017. Hake’s Americana & Collectibles made the trip from Pennsylvania to exhibit an incredible display of vintage Star Wars memorabilia.

At booth 2401, Hake’s is showcasing pieces from the Star Wars Collection of Russell Branton. Fans and collectors have the rare opportunity to see a selection of figures that Branton has consigned to the auction house.

Hake’s Consignment Manager Kelly McClain and Production Manager Todd Sheffer made the trip to showcase the treasure trove of Star Wars figures. When asked about the interested so far, both Sheffer and McClain were enthusiastic in their responses. “The traffic is huge. I’ve had more people stop to look at the key pieces from the collection than we ever had before. Usually most people are in awe that they can see this stuff in person. Most people haven’t had a chance to ever see the rarity that’s here. The rocket firing Boba Fett is one that I’ve seen tweeted already and it hasn’t even been a full day yet. It’s been a great con,” McClain said.

“It’s an amazing crowd. People are overwhelmed. It’s been nonstop. People are amazed at the quality of the collection. What we have on display is the best of the best. People are ‘wowed’ at seeing it and they are definitely interested,” Sheffer added.

The impressive items now on display at Comic-Con include the three double telescoping figures of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, 12-back Princess Leia, Power of the Force Yak Face, the vinyl cape Jawa, Boba Fett L-slot rocket-firing prototype, and Empire Strikes Back Bespin 3-pack.

With such rare, amazing pieces on display it may be hard to pin down a favorite, but collectors definitely have certain figures in mind. “There are two pieces that I think will be of particular interest and it’ll be two different kinds of collectors,” Sheffer said. “The double telescoping lightsaber Obi-Wan Kenobi. It looks like the sky’s going to be the limit on that and there will be collectors willing to pay whatever it takes to get that. The rocket-firing Boba Fett prototype is sort of the holy grail for the general collector who wants that kind of thing. I see that, also, going for some amazing price at the end.”

The buzz for the collection is out among collectors and the display at Comic-Con has introduced it to even more fans. “We’ve had multiple people sign up for catalogs to bid. Not only the people who learned about it from the show, but they’ve talked about the buzz they’ve been hearing outside of the con. There are people that need to fill some very serious holes in their collections. Which is exciting,” McClain said.

The impressive Star Wars Collection of Russell Branton of graded action figures and related toys will be sold in November 2017 and beyond. Learn more about the collection and the upcoming auction hakes.com, on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as in Scoop
