Teen Titans Go! fans were treated to an early morning panel that started with a 3-episode sneak peek of an upcoming 4-episode full hour event. Titled “The Day the Night Stopped Beginning to Shine and Became Dark Even Though It Was the Day,” the Titans revisit the world from a fan-favorite episode “40%, 40%, 20%” that featured Cyborg's personal anthem, “The Night Begins to Shine,” the song that transports him to a 1980s fantasy wasteland reminiscent of the movie Heavy Metal. In it, the Titans are rendered in a totally ’80s radical punk/anime aesthetic, and there are dragons, metallic birds, and other staples of ’80s action cartoons. “The Night Begins to Shine” was inspired by the song “You Got the Touch” from the 1980s animated Transformers movie. This new music-filled epic includes guest appearances by CeeLo Green and the band Fallout Boy.

The episodes were followed by a Q&A session with the voice actors Scott Menville (Robin), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy), Tara Strong (Raven) and several producers of the show. They teased the upcoming 200th episode where the Titans break through the fourth wall into the real world, meeting the real life voice cast. Additionally, another episode will have the Titans battle with their more serious predecessors, and judging from the imagery of the Teen Titans Go! convention bag, the Go! Squad is due for a butt-kicking.

“The Day the Night Stopped Beginning to Shine and Became Dark Even Though It Was the Day” debuts with part 1 on August 1 and runs nightly through August 4 on Cartoon Network.
