Diamond Select Toys is celebrating the 15th anniversary of their Minimates and Vinimates lines of toys in 2017, and their Comic-Con panel took a look at a number of upcoming releases for them.
A couple of new licenses were looked at, including The Dark Tower. It was announced at the panel that the Tracker will be a part of the Minimates set; Gunslinger, Man in Black, and Tracker Vinimates were also shown off.
Disney fans can look forward to the Nightmare Before Christmas set, which will soon include a glow in the dark Oogie Boogie and Santa Jack, plus Pumpkin King Jack. The previously announced Kingdom Hearts Vinimates were also looked at; the designs will be based primarily on Kingdom Hearts II, with the potential for future releases to be based on the upcoming third main entry, which is due out in 2018.
The DC Vinimates line will be expanding with two Wonder Woman figures from the 2017 film, plus Batman, Harley Quinn, and Green Lantern. There will be exclusives for Toys R Us, which will focus on characters from the Teen Titans Go cartoon series. The Justice League film will also be getting a series, with Walgreens getting an exclusive in that line in the form of a battle-damaged Batman.
The Predator series is also getting new Minimates that are said to take inspiration from the old Kenner line of toys, plus two more Vinimates will be introduced as well, which includes a translucent cloaked Predator.
On the Marvel end of things, the Minimates based on Marvel animated series will be a line exclusive to Walgreens. Outside of that, Spider-Man: Homecoming Minimates are now available. Plus, the Minimate of the mutant Toad will finally be available for the first time despite having been part of the original concept art for the Minimates line back in 2002.
Series 24 for Toys R Us was announced, and includes Carrion, Scarlet Spider, the Collector, Gwenpool, Black Cat, and the Unworthy Thor. Series 25 was also looked at, and will include Negative Zone Spider-Man, Spider Sense Peter Parker, Chameleon, Spider-Armor Spider-Man, Superior Foe Beetle, and Jack’O’Lantern. The Chameleon figure can transform into Mary Jane Watson with additional parts.
