In 2014, in honor of Batman’s 75th anniversary, DC Comics announced the popular event – Batman Day. Now in its fourth year, Batman Day is taking place on September 23, 2017. However, as this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Clown Princess of Crime, Harley Quinn is taking over!
Harley Quinn, created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, made her debut appearance in 1992 on Batman: The Animated Series. Over the past two decades, Harley Quinn has starred in her own bestselling comic book series, acclaimed graphic novels, the Batman: Arkham video games, and was the breakout star in the Suicide Squad movie. Her trademark look has also inspired amazing toys and collectibles, and was the most popular Halloween costume of 2016.
Leading up to “Harley Quinn’s Batman Day Takeover,” DC All Access will host a series of segments from September 18-23. This digital series will spotlight essential books, debut a special “25 Years 25 Harleys” video tribute, and bring fans the latest Batman Day news. More than 5,000 libraries, comic shops, bookstores, and other partners worldwide will host “Harley Quinn Batman Day Takeover” events. These will include cosplay contests, activities for kids, and distributing free copies of three special edition issues.
