Heritage Auctions has opened an office in London, England, joining other international branches in Paris, Geneva, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong. The new office is located at 6 Shepherd Street, London, Mayfair W1J 7JE.

“London is the next logical step in the international expansion of Heritage,” said Cristiano Bierrenbach, Executive Vice President of Heritage Auctions. “It is one of the financial centers of the world, as well as a major hub of the art and collectibles market. We are very excited to take this step, and expect that the transparency, efficiency, and global presence of Heritage will be quickly recognized and embraced by the British market.”

Veteran coin collectors and experts Max Tursi and Nicholas Mathioudakis will be working in the office.

Tursi, a lifelong coin collector, earned an MA in Classics from Universitá degli Studi of Pavia, Italy. He has worked at prestigious firms like Christie’s Rome, Astarte S.A. in Lugano, Spink and Son, and Classical Numismatic Group in London. In 2014 he partnered with Mathioudakis at London Coin Galleries Ltd. Over the last 18 years, Tursi has gained extensive experience in both retail and auctions, with expertise in European medieval and modern coins.

Mathioudakis has been a coin collector since he was 13 years old. While living in Saudi Arabia he spent a lot of time in souks searching for hidden treasures where he found his first ancient Greek coin. He took a full-time position at Morton and Eden cataloguing ancient coins and paper money. His areas of expertise include ancient coins, paper money, particularly of the Middle East, European medieval, Islamic, and modern coins.
