Warner Bros. and Patty Jenkins have finalized a deal for her to direct the sequel to her immensely successful Wonder Woman. Variety broke the story, sharing that Jenkins is already working on a script with Geoff Johns of DC and Jon Berg of Warner Bros.

It’s not a surprise that Jenkins will return for the sequel considering they have been in negotiations for a while. It could mean that Jenkins secured a better deal for herself to continue building a franchise.

Wonder Woman is the most successful DC film since Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The movie grossed $409 million domestically and $813 million worldwide.

Having Jenkins return with star Gal Gadot hopefully means the pair can recreate and build upon the magic that made Wonder Woman so great. The sequel is set for theaters on December 13, 2019.
