In 1978 actress Jamie Lee Curtis carved out a space for herself as one of the most beloved scream queens in horror by starring in the slasher classic, Halloween. Now, 40 years later, she’s returning to Haddonfield for a new Halloween, set for release on October 19, 2018.
On Friday, September 15, 2017, Blumhouse Productions tweeted that Curtis would return to the franchise. Then Curtis tweeted, “Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween.”
Indeed, in the photo she is wearing the same blue button-up shirt and mom jeans, standing in front of an open doorway which reveals the series’ bogeyman, Michael Myers.

Curtis was the heroine in the first Halloween, as the sole teenage survivor and protector of the children she was babysitting. After surviving the first round of killings, she was attacked by the masked killer in the hospital later that evening in the 1981 sequel, which also revealed that Myers was her older brother.
After being absent from the next three sequels, Curtis returned for the 20th anniversary film, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, this time trying to protect herself and her teenage son. Curtis made a cameo in 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection, which presumably saw the death of Laurie Strode, casting much speculation and curiosity about her role in the new movie.
The new Halloween movie will be directed by David Gordon Green, the co-creator of Eastbound & Down and director of Our Brand is Crisis. He co-wrote the script with Danny McBride (star and writer of Eastbound & Down).
Halloween creator and original director John Carpenter will serve as executive producer. Earlier this year in February, Carpenter announced the new movie with praise for Green and McBride’s story plans. “David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…Wow. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away,” Carpenter wrote during the announcement.
