Nintendo and Kellogg’s have announced a partnership for a brand-new cereal that will feature the mustachioed hero from the Mushroom Kingdom, Super Mario. Simply called Super Mario Cereal, the part of a balanced breakfast is set to arrive on store shelves in December 2017.

Notably, the box itself – besides bearing Mario’s face – is bound to appeal to big-time Nintendo fans, as it supposedly acts as a special amiibo that’s compatible with the Nintendo Switch system. By scanning a specific area of the back of the box, fans who have a copy of Super Mario Odyssey will be able to unlock special content in-game.

“This powered-up partnership with Kellogg’s is another exciting way for us to expand the Nintendo brand in unique and creative ways,” said Tom Prata, Nintendo of America’s senior VP of strategic initiatives, in a press release. “We are always looking for new opportunities to bring smiles to people of all ages, and this is a fun way to kick off the day.”

This is hardly the first cereal tie-in for Nintendo; notably, they previously partnered with Ralson Cereals in 1986 on the Nintendo Cereal System. The box featured both Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda and actually had two different cereal bags inside. Boxes of the Nintendo Cereal System have recently sold for upwards of $100 on online auction sites like eBay. It’s already expected that the Super Mario Cereal will become a similar collector’s item.
