Hannah Simone is officially the Greatest American Hero! Following the pilot order from ABC, the Greatest American Hero reboot has cast the New Girl alum as its new female lead. The original 1981 series starred William Katt as the eponymous Greatest American Hero.

Now, this new reboot will see not only see the role gender-swapped but with an Indian-American actress at the helm. According to Deadline, Simone will play the role of Meera, “a 30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning.”

Along with New Girl, which is ending after its seventh season, Simone has also appeared in Odd Squad: The Movie and Killing Gunther. She’s also attached to the indie romantic comedy Lemonade from writer and director David Matalon.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) previously attempted to reboot the series in 2015 and 2016. Now, Fresh Off the Boat’s Rachna Fruchbom has written the pilot episode and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Fierce Baby’s Nahnatchka Khan and Mandy Summers, as well as Tawnia McKiernan. 20th Century Fox television will co-produce with ABC Studios.
