BOOM! Studios continues Archaia Summer Reading, a week-long spotlight on the original graphic novel releases from the award-winning imprint in the coming months, with an extended first look at About Betty's Boob.
Arriving in stores June 2018, About Betty’s Boob is an affecting and inspired examination of one woman’s painful, surreal, and oddly humorous journey following a mastectomy. Storytellers Vero Cazot and Julie Rocheleau present the original graphic novel story of Betty, who wakes up alone in a hospital room and finds herself disoriented by the body that greets her. She must face the cruel outside world obsessed with beauty standards, starting with her boyfriend, who’s having a very hard time dealing with her new look. No one seems to know what to make of this new Betty and neither does she.
“Though the story is told through a largely silent sequential narrative, About Betty’s Boob is an affecting look at breast cancer survival and how one woman must struggle, fight, and overcome the obstacles that greet her in her new body and new frame of mind,” said Sierra Hahn, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Vero Cazot and Julie Rocheleau have created a seminal work that simultaneously inspires and entertains as Betty embarks on a remarkable journey of self-discovery.”
Archaia is home to graphic novels such as Mouse Guard, The Realist, and Rust, along with series inspired by beloved properties like Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Coronation. The imprint has spawned a number of recent hits including Jane, Bolivar, and the upcoming A Girl in The Himalayas.
Print copies of About Betty’s Boob will be available for sale in June at local comic book shops, bookstores or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and the BOOM! Studios app.
