The highly anticipated sequel to 2016’s Deadpool has finally hit theaters. In its opening weekend, the Merc with the Mouth has become the Merc with the Money and knocked Avengers: Infinity War off the No. 1 spot – which it held for three weeks. 20th Century Fox’s R-rated superhero film brought in $301 million globally during its May 18-20, 2018 opening weekend.

Domestically, Deadpool 2 brought in $125 million, nabbing the second biggest domestic opening for an R-rated film ever behind its predecessor Deadpool ($132.4 million). While the sequel came in slightly under the first film domestically, Deadpool 2 debuted to $176 million overseas. This result was ahead of the first film and marked the biggest international launch for an R-rated film in history.

Deadpool 2 is currently the third biggest opening of the year behind Infinity War ($595.4 million) and Black Panther ($202 million). The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapičić, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, Karan Soni, and Leslie Uggams, with series newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Julian Dennison as Russell.
