The cast has been announced for the upcoming season of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime, Vento Aureo (also known as Golden Wind), which comprises the fifth story arc of the long-running series. The series, which will be handled by David Production, is set to premiere in October 2018. The first episode is premiering at a couple of events around the world this weekend, including the Japan Expo in Paris, and Anime Expo in California.
Kensho Ono will star as Giovorno Giovanna; Ono has previously had major roles in recent anime such as Kuroko’s Basketball, Yuri!! On Ice, and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic. He will be joined by Yuichi Nakamura (voicing Bruno Bucciarati), Junya Enoki (voicing Pannacotta Fugo), Daiki Yamashita (voicing Narancia Ghirga), Kousuke Toriumi (voicing Guido Mista), and Junichi Suwabe (voicing Leone Abbacchio).
The original Vento Aureo manga ran for 17 volumes between 1995 and 1999. It follows Giorno Giovanna, who is the human son of the malicious vampire Dio Brando (who was a villain in multiple previous arcs). Giorno aspires to become the head of the mafia known as Passione, and hopes to turn them into honorable thieves.
The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga at large has been running since 1987, written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. The series currently is in its eighth story arc, called JoJolion, which has been running since 2011.
