The latest annual edition of the bible of comic book collecting, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, will be hitting store shelves soon – extremely soon, in fact! The book, featuring updated prices as well as new market reports and articles of all sorts, will be in stores on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
The 48th edition of the price guide features a main cover of the Flash and Green Lantern by Ethan Van Sciver and a cover celebrating the 50th anniversary of Planet of the Apes by Ryan Sook. This year’s Hall of Fame limited edition features an American Flagg cover by creator Howard Chaykin; The Big, Big edition of the price guide has a Buffy the Vampire Slayer cover by Georges Jeanty, and the Hero Initiative limited edition depicts the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, with a cover by Joe Jusko.
“In addition to all of the updated pricing, the new market reports and other features, this edition includes a fantastic appreciation of Action Comics #1 on its 80th anniversary by former DC Comics President and Publisher Paul Levitz, a 50th anniversary study of Planet of the Apes’ comic history by Terry Hoknes, and a look at Marvel’s critical 1968 expansion by the Hero Initiative’s Charlie Novinskie,” J.C. Vaughn, Gemstone Vice-President of Publishing, said.
This edition also adds new members to the Overstreet Hall of Fame and celebrates key character anniversaries, including Adam Strange, Static, and Venom, among many others.
The Flash/Green Lantern hardcover and softcover, the Planet of the Apes hardcover and softcover, the Big, Big edition, and the Hall of Fame hardcover and softcover are all available on Gemstone Publishing’s website.
The Hero Initiative hardcover version, limited to just 500 copies, will be available at the Hero booth 5003 during Comic-Con International: San Diego, starting on Wednesday, July 18. Jusko will be at the Hero booth throughout the weekend for those looking to get their copy signed. It will also be available on Hero’s website, on the Graham Crackers Comics website, and a handful of select, Hero-supporting retailers.
