Since news of Steve Ditko’s passing became public a wave of remembrances has been shared by his collaborators, those he influenced, and his fans. Ranging from memories of work to how he impacted their lives, people have expressed how they feel about his passing and his contributions to the comic book industry.

Stan Lee has joined the conversation by posting a video titled “Remembering Sturdy Steve Ditko – Stan.” In the video posted on Twitter, Lee states that, “Steve was certainly one of the most important creators in the comic book business. His talent was indescribable.”

Lee knew more acutely than most about the level of Ditko’s talent. The pair collaborated plenty at Marvel, most significantly on the co-creation of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Ditko’s mark on Marvel extended into co-creating antagonists like Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, Green Goblin, and Eternity.

As part of his tribute, Lee described his impression of how Ditko worked and created. “I worked with him for many years and was always impressed with how he saw everything in terms of photos and pictures and movement and scenes. He told a story like a fine movie director would,” Lee said.
