What could be more interesting than a rabbit hero fighting bad guys? How about a rabbit hero fighting bad guys in a western? Throw in a tornado god for good measure to get Billy the Kit, a new supernatural western comic currently seeking backers on Kickstarter.

The comic tells the story of an orphaned gunslinger rabbit who seeks to avenge his family and save the west from the evil tornado god that killed his loved ones. It also seeks to answer what made the sickly rabbit so special that he was spared from the fate his family suffered. This creative, eclectic comic was written by Justin Gray with art by Barry McClain Jr. and colors by Slamet Mujiono.

The Kickstarter campaign describes it as a mashup of Bugs Bunny, Django Unchained, and Jack Kirby. It also cautions that this story may look cute and cuddly but it’s for mature audiences.

The 32-page full color comic features Billy the Kit, a rabbit who relies on faith, firearms, and Kung Fu to battle outlaws and pagan gods. It also includes an 8-page teaser trailer developed for conventions.

Their goal is to reach $6,000 in backing for printing, packaging, and other production costs. Pledge levels start at $1 and go up to $150 or more with perks that include the digital teaser, print edition, color print, personalized postcard, western combos, original artwork, a super deluxe 52-page Kickstarter exclusive variant, and more. The campaign is currently open and will run through August 30, 2018.
