Marvel Studios has debuted the long awaited Captain Marvel trailer and it’s filled with action snippets, displays of her power, and sweet ’90s references.

The trailer opens with Carol Danvers, a/k/a Captain Marvel plummeting from the sky and in case viewers aren’t sure when the movie is set, she crash lands into a Blockbuster Video store. As she gets up, without injury, Nick Fury’s voiceover states that, “War is a universal language. I know a renegade soldier when I see one. Never occurred to me that one might come from above.”

There’s an alien threat, and naturally, SHIELD ace Nick Fury is looking for powerful individuals to help. The trailer shows Captain Marvel displaying some of her powers and dips into her past as an Air Force pilot. It looks like the movie will feature her transition into becoming Captain Marvel and the disorienting circumstances surrounding it. We also get a glimpse at Alpha Flight, quick look at her suit, and a flash of Mar-Vell and a younger Agent Coulson.

Captain Marvel premieres in theaters on March 8, 2019. The movie is co-directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (The Affair). Brie Larson (Room) is flying in as Captain Marvel, with Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Lee Pace as Ronan, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Djimon Hounsou as Korath, plus Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg returning as Nick Fury and Agent Coulson.
