According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man’s Michael Peña will be welcoming guests in Sony and Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island adaptation as the mysterious Mr. Roarke.
Fantasy Island originally ran on ABC from 1977 to 1984 and quickly gained a large following. The series starred Ricardo Montalbán as the enigmatic Mr. Roarke and Hervé Villechaize as the animated Tattoo. Overseen by Mr. Roarke, visitors to the titular island could have their greatest fantasies granted, for a price. More often than not, those fantasies would leave the guests facing challenges that tested their character.
Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare) will direct, write, and executive produce the project. Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs will also serve as co-writers with Jason Blum set to produce. Blumhouse’s Couper Samuelson will also executive produce with Ryan Turek overseeing the project for Blumhouse and Matt Milan overseeing for Sony.
Along with providing comedic relief in the Ant-Man franchise, Peña has also recently appeared in Cesar Chavez, The Martian, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and A Wrinkle in Time. Upcoming projects for Pñna include Narcos: Mexico, The Mule and the live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer.
