The CW has unveiled the first look at Ruby Rose suited up as Batwoman. Kate Kane’s Batwoman will make her DC-CW debut during the Arrowverse crossover event in December 2018.

Kane is described as “an out lesbian and trained street fighter primed to snuff out Gotham City’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

“Growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody that I identified with, let alone a superhero,” Rose told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Tonight Show, labeling her casting as well as the introduction of the character as a “game changer.”

The Arrowverse crossover begins with The Flash on December 9, and continues with Arrow on December 10 before concluding with Supergirl on December 11.

A spinoff Batwoman series is also in development at The CW with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) writing the project and executive-producing alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns.
