On Friday, October 7, 2018 during New York Comic Con weekend, Metropolis Gallery hosted an opening of their current art show featuring the works of Italian comic artist Simone Bianchi. Fans and art collectors alike came in droves to gaze upon the colorful, powerful paintings Bianchi created for the Marvel Masterworks card series.
“The opening was a huge success. Sales were brisk with 25 paintings selling. This is a testament to the talent of Bianchi. On a personal note it is wonderful to see how humble Simone is after the deluge of compliments paid to him throughout the evening from collectors” said Metropolis Gallery curator, Vincent Zurzolo.
Among the pieces sold were portraits of Adam Warlock, Baron Zemo, Beta Ray Bill, Cap/Crossbones, Captain America, Daredevil, Elektra, Enchantress, Goblin, Groot, Iron Fist, Loki, Mephisto, Misty Knight, Nova, Phoenix, Red Skull, Rocket Raccoon, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man, Storm, Thor, Venom, Wolverine and Yellowjacket. Prices ranged from $2,500-$14,000.
“Simone had a blast meeting his adoring fans,” Zurzolo added. “There were over 200 fans, collectors, and investors in attendance and they were all blown away by his amazing depictions of these popular Marvel characters. We try to do something special for every NYCC and we feel we have outdone ourselves this year.”
Metropolis Gallery is centrally located in midtown Manhattan and is easily accessible from Penn Station. The Bianchi show will be open to the public Tuesday-Friday from 11 AM to 5 PM and will run until the end of December.
The entire collection is available for sale in person and online at Bianchi Marvel Masterpieces on the Metropolis website.
