As revealed via Deadline, CBS is getting into the superhero game with a potential drama series based on DC’s Secret Six. The network has made a production commitment for a pilot episode of Secret Six.
Suits’ Rick Muirragui is writing and executive producing the project, which is described as “six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts.” After being assembled by an unknown source, each member is subsequently blackmailed into targeting corrupt politicians and corporations.
This new project strays from the original 1968 Secret Six team, created by E. Nelson Bridwell and Frank Springer, which consisted of elite operatives led by Mockingbird. Martin Pasko and Dan Spiegle introduced a second team in 1988, but perhaps the most popular iteration was created by Gail Simone and Dale Eaglesham in 2005. This latter team was made up of Scandal Savage, Catman, Deadshot, Rag Doll, Cheshire, and Parademon. Additional members included Bane, Black Alice, Knockout, and even Harley Quinn.
Muirragui executive produces with Doozer Productions Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold and Warner Bros TV.
