A PG-13 version of Deadpool 2? As you wish! 20th Century Fox has dropped the first Once Upon a Deadpool trailer and the setting seems slightly familiar… While Deadpool snowflakes flutter down, the snow clears to reveal The Princess Bride alum Fred Savage.

Relying on the childlike innocence of Savage, Deadpool has kidnapped the shocked actor and placed him in a bedroom much like that of the 1987 film. In this case, Savage is not hearing the love story of Buttercup and Westley but rather the PG-13 version of Deadpool 2.

Following the R-rated Deadpool 2, which grossed over $730 million worldwide, 20th Century Fox secretly shot footage for the sanitized version. Rather than the trademark cussing of the original film, this PG-13 version is a frame story in which Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool retells Deadpool 2 to a duct-tapped Savage.

While the film will be devoid of the language and violence of the hard R-rated film, the trailer promises plenty of the original’s dark humor. As evident by Savage telling Deadpool he prefers Marvel movies, leaving Deadpool to assure him this is a Marvel movie. Savage hilariously responds, “Yeah, but you’re Marvel licensed by Fox. It’s almost like if the Beatles were produced by Nickelback. It’s music, but it sucks.”

Conceived by Deadpool 2 writers Reynolds, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick, Once Upon a Deadpool will hit theaters this holiday season on December 12, 2018.
