The nominees for the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Thursday, December 6, 2018, with the year’s best films and television programs being honored.

Among the nominees receiving attention for their cinematic achievements is Black Panther. The superhero movie was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama, making it the first Marvel Studios film to be nominated in the Golden Globes’ Best Motion Picture category. Black Panther was also nominated for Best Original Score in a Motion Picture (Ludwig Göransson) and Best Original Song in a Motion Picture “All the Stars.”

Joining Black Panther in the Best Motion Picture – Drama category are BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, If Beale Street Could Talk, and A Star is Born.

This year’s nominees for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy are Crazy Rich Asians, The Favourite, Green Book, Mary Poppins Returns, and Vice.

The nominees for Best Television Series – Drama are The Americans, Bodyguard, Homecoming, Killing Eve, and Pose. Meanwhile, Barry, The Good Place, Kidding, The Kominsky Method, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel were nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. 

The other Marvel-related news in the nominations is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse seeing a nod in the Best Motion Picture – Animated category; it shares that category space with Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.

On the film end of things, Vice leads the way with six nominations, followed by A Star is Born, The Favourite, and Green Book picking up three each. Television-wise, The Assassination of Gianni Versace picked up four nods, while Barry, The Kiminsky Method, Homecoming, Sharp Objects, A Very English Scandal, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel all received three each.
