Valiant Entertainment has announced a lineup of four new titles to be known as Breakthrough. The stories will serve as a jumping on point for readers interested in Valiant’s expanding shared universe.

“I’m incredibly excited to reveal Breakthrough, the next step in the continued success of the Valiant Universe that builds toward a full year of exciting announcements,” Valiant’s Senior Editorial Director Robert Meyers told Syfy Wire. “These are extraordinary stories told by master storytellers, featuring comics’ most compelling villain, Toyo Harada; the main stage debut of Punk Mambo; the evolution of the future; and perhaps the scariest assembly of superspies the Valiant Universe has ever seen.”

First up, in March 2019 is The Life and Death of Toyo Harada, a character driven tale about the world’s most powerful superhuman in his final fight. The book is written by Joshua Dysart (Harbinger), with art by Cafu (Rai), Mico Suayan (Bloodshot Reborn), Lewis LaRosa (Bloodshot Salvation), and Adam Pollina (X-Force).

Next, in April is Punk Mambo about the British voodoo priestess, written by Cullen Bunn (Venom) and Adam Gorham (Rocket). The five-issue series, set in New Orleans, is a supernatural story that brings horror and humor together.

Fallen World, written by Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy) with art by Adam Pollina (X-Force), is a five-issue event beginning in May. Set in the cyberpunk future of 4002 AD, cyborg samurai Rai will face an impossible foe over the fate of humanity.

In July, writer B. Clay Moore (Savage) and artist Fernando Dagnino (Suicide Squad) will introduce Killers, about deadly superspies competing for the ultimate prize.

More on the series can be found on the Valiant Entertainment website.
