For its 80th anniversary, The Wizard of Oz will be returning to theaters for a limited engagement thanks to Fathom Events. The beloved classic will include some special insight on the film from Turner Classic Movies in addition to the presentation of the film itself.
The Wizard of Oz first released on August 25, 1939, and starred Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hamilton. The story was based on L. Frank Baum’s book of the same name, and followed Dorothy Gale as she travels throughout the whimsical (but sometimes dangerous) land of Oz, seeking a way back to her home in Kansas. Along the way she makes a mortal enemy of the Wicked Witch of the West, but befriends the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Lion, and is able to put an end to the Witch’s malicious deeds.
The film returns to theaters on January 27, 29, and 30, and tickets are available now through Fathom Events.
